So I had an interesting email from a client the other day asking me for more info and resources so they could learn from.

Normally most trainers WON’T give out their resources, because they think if they give out all their stuff that made you buy their services in the first place then you won’t need them any more…

That is a complete moronic way of thinking, I WANT my clients to be smart and I want them to learn as much as they want, so if they want more info and more resources I’m always happy to show them where I get my material.

So below are some of my more popular go-to resources that I get a some of my material from, but honestly guys I have a TON of people that I learn from.

What are below are free resources so don’t worry you won’t have to spend anything… unless of course you have money burning a hole in your pocket in which case I can help 😉

Nutrition:

Precision Nutrition – These guys are pretty damn legit and among the more professional business that I have worked with. They have amazing programs, incredible knowledge base, and more results that most online nutrition sites COMBINED. ⇐= That says a LOT.

T-Nation – Seems like a pretty hardcore site BUT they do have some amazing writers on there on the frequent (in fact a lot of my resources were found here and some still write for this site). Not all of their stuff is great BUT when you do find that one article it will be the epiphany you need.

Cassandra Forsythe – I meet this person about a year ago and read some of her material, very down to earth and holistic (not hippy holistic but believes that most diseases and issues can be cured via a healthy diet… which I agree). I’ve referenced her articles before and had a chance to really sit down and talk with her, needless to say I was very impressed with her passion, knowledge, and philosophies… and it also helps that she is a meathead at heart 😉

 

Powerlifting:

EliteFTS – Dave Tate, founder of EliteFTS, is one of the nations top powerlifting coaches. This place probably has produced more 500lb bench pressers than any other gym and for good reason. Great equipment, intense atmosphere, great coaching and LOTS of education. Read their articles you can’t go wrong.

Juggernaut Training – I was turned on to this site about 5 months ago and I have found myself going back to them on multiple occasions. They focus more on raw strength and athletic development, they have some of the strongest RAW lifters in multiple categories. Great systems and programs with solid logic and science behind it.

 

Muscle and Strength:

Jason Fuggeria – AKA the Renegade. This site has been number one in internet hit on muscle building than any other site; with good reason too. Down to earth solid info that is spoken straight from the hip that just makes sense with a focus on turning skinny kids into walking beast. Oh and for your ladies don’t think this doesn’t pertain to you all if you see his wife and how she trains you’ll become an addict as well. Check it out and you’ll find that you’ll read multiple articles without realizing it.

 

Corrective:

Bill Hartman – One of my mentors turned me onto Bill Hartman several years ago and he said it best… “Bill is like neo from the matrix, he doesn’t’ see people but only code on how to fix people” They aren’t kidding… incredible knowledge base on how to fix detailed and intimate postural and structural issues. He is on another level of the corrective world.

Eric Cressey – The first correct guy I ever read about and it still in my top must reads. This guy had made an excellent career focusing on overhead athletes (most notably baseball players) and has been labeled as the “shoulder guru” by many. Truly in a league of his own with shoulder work.

Mike Robertson – Still one of my favorite correct go-to guys. He has an incredibly way of explaining the most complicated biomechanical issues in a simple easy to understand way. I still refer to his blog on a weekly basis for little gold nuggets, they are all over the place on that site, and if you ever get  chance to read some of his success stores they are VERY powerful.

 

Conditioning:

Joel Jamison – Wow.. I mean wow, this guys understanding of energy systems is paving the way for so many up and coming trainers. Just to give you a small example with everyone talking about steady state cardio on the net today this guy has not just ONE version of state state cardio (what fighters known as road work) but EIGHT and it just engages the inner nerd that he will discuss each one and HOW they work with the body’s physiology. His book Ultimate MMA Conditioning is by far a MUST read for anyone wanting to take their conditioning to levels that will smoke your competition

 

Some cool people to follow:

Joe Donnelly – Honestly this guy just makes me laugh for his comical no BS ability to bring out the intensity in people with his “no such thing as over-training” and “grow a pair” attitude. With strong focus on increasing the body’s metabolism through high intensity training he is someone that is just fun to listen with his ability to say what we have all thought.

Dave Schmitz – One of the first guys I met when I broke away fromt the corporate world to really get me to see there was another way besides weights. Dave Schmitz (AKA The Band Man) is a physical therapist and trainer that has more energy than a classroom of 12 year olds, and for 50 will SMOKE about anyone in the gym with his band workouts. VERY knowledgeable, VERY passionate and any chance you get to do his workouts or even train with him is gold.

Fighter Diet – Straight up this woman is hardcore. She is more dedicated to natural eating that just about anyone else out there with some impressive client results. To give you an idea on how dedicated she is to her craft she will post pics of her glutes DAILY on Facebook to keep herself accountable to her goal (yes I can see the smirks now). Jokes aside she will probably out train and out diet you, eve you ever need that kick in the butt read her post.

Each of these people have products that you can buy and I can say that I have purchased something from everyone of them, and all are legit.
